Now is a great time to nurture your network. Here’s how!
You’ve come back from your summer break, energised for the busy season ahead between September and December (or you’re heading into the Southern Hemisphere spring full of excitement!). You’ll be busy with your job and it’s time to make some connections.
Or maybe you’ve come back determined to find a new job because you just can’t face spending another year in the place you’re in right now. So networking with hiring managers, potential colleagues and recruiters is top of your list.
Whichever side you’re on, here’s a neat way to reach out to old connections and easily make new ones:
Check your LinkedIn feed for those updates from others, landing new jobs, getting promoted or starting a part-time Masters degree.?
Those updates are a great opportunity to send a message to congratulate people and add a personal greeting.
Important: Don’t (ever!) use those pre-fabricated LinkedIn messages. They are generic, boring and don’t do you any favours.
Instead, spend a minute putting together a personal message that tells the recipient you’ve actually read their update, thought about them and want to be in touch.
Quality over quantity is what matters when it comes to networking. As is making a genuine effort.?
Even just a short message that you’ve written yourself rather than AI generated mass-messaging will leave a positive impression with people.
Give it a try this month and see your connections strengthen.
Have a great week!
Eva
