In a joint announcement, 微软 and 甲骨文 confirmed the general availability of Oracle Database@Azure. Initially launched in the Azure East United States region, more regions are slated for introduction in 2024. This groundbreaking offering empowers Azure customers to operate their Oracle databases using Oracle Exadata appliances within Azure, maintaining identical pricing to?Oracle Exadata cloud service on OCI. Notably, this integration ensures seamless access to advanced Exadata features like Oracle RAC, and reducing latency by co-locating the oracle databases in the same datacenter as Azure services and the application tier.
Enhanced Capabilities for Tessell Customers
Tessell customers gain substantial advantages by leveraging the Microsoft Cloud for their mission-critical Oracle-powered applications. Tessell’s ability to run high-performance Oracle workloads in your tenancy delivers millions of production database IOPS, multiple physically redundant high-availability zones in a single data center, and cross-region disaster recovery while offering exceptional data management capabilities. Tessell enables the seamless management of Oracle databases running on both Microsoft Azure compute instances and Oracle Exadata.
Tessell Airdrop for Effortless Migration
Recently announced, Tessell Airdrop simplifies the migration journey by facilitating zero downtime migration from on-premises Oracle @Exadata to Azure. This one-click migration solution enables Exadata to seamlessly transition their Oracle workloads to Azure, akin to how iPhone users effortlessly move data from one device to another via Airdrop.
Unified Control Plane for Unmatched Management
The VPT Customer model (Virtual Private Tessell), is a fully managed Tessell offering housing the data plane within the customer’s Azure tenancy. This model delivers unparalleled customization and flexibility. Customers with absolute in-tenancy requirements, such as large enterprise and government customers, can now operate the Tessell control plane fully encapsulated within their Azure environment. This Unified Control Plane extends its management scope to encompass Oracle on Azure IaaS and the new Exadata@Azure infrastructure.

Cost-Efficiency Through Oracle Migration with Tessell?
Collaborating with Microsoft, Tessell offers prospective customers comprehensive migration assessments and complimentary Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses. These evaluations intricately compare running Oracle on Exadata on-premises versus utilizing Tessell’s DBaaS capabilities on Exadata@Azure or native Azure, or a combination thereof. Significant cost reductions are achievable across various areas, including infrastructure utilization, lifecycle management at scale, database consolidation, and running databases on NVMe infrastructure for the ultimate performance/price.? Specifically, Exadata@Azure users benefit from 1-click disaster recovery and Exadata-like performance on native Azure, translating to potential cost savings.?
Efficient Disaster Recovery and Enhanced Performance?
Tessell’s capabilities extend from replicating Exadata@Azure databases to different Azure availability zones, to facilitating effortless 1-click DR failover across regions. This feature not only saves substantial costs associated with creating a separate Exadata hosted DR environment, but also enhances resilience by leveraging separate regions, rather than solely relying on a single physical location high-availability potentially vulnerable to an extreme catastrophic event.
Leveraging breakthrough technology, Tessell harnesses Azures’s high-performance Ls3v NVMe shapes to ensure durability, guaranteeing zero data loss. Customers can achieve up to a million IOPS on native (non-proprietary) Azure infrastructure, leveraging existing MACCs, and improving performance/price vs. block storage. Even databases necessitating Exadata capabilities, such as RAC, can see reduced expenses by running secondary environments on Tessell within native Azure.
Empowering Exadata on Azure
Recognizing the excellence of Exadata for Oracle databases, Tessell’s roadmap includes Exadata@Azure as a supported platform. This move promises Exadata customers the benefits of Tessell’s exceptional data and lifecycle management. Tessell’s commitment to data flexibility, Oracle PaaS in Azure, production performance/price and cost-effectiveness positions it as an enticing solution for Oracle customers contemplating cloud migration. With Tessell, customers embark on their cloud journey assured of a partner dedicated to streamlining and expediting migrations while ensuring an unparalleled cloud experience.
