Now Is Exactly The Right Moment

A few weeks ago, I received a giant box in the mail. It turned out to be a delicious book from Seth Godin entitled "This Might Work." I am just delighted to have it and dig into it. Thank you to my friends from altMBA for gifting me such a gorgeous book.
What caught my eye, however, before I even opened the package, was the box that it came in. On the side of the box was a really powerful quote. So powerful that I got a pair of scissors and cut out the side of the box with the quote on it so I could save it. You can see the message that I was so keen to save in this image.
Over the past few days, many have asked me what they can do to combat the sense of hopelessness or exhaustion that they feel – not sure how to process everything that is happening in the US and around the world, how to speak up for what they believe in, support communities under attack, keep themselves and their loved ones safe and find hope for the future. And I will say that I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I do know its time for us to listen to and learn from each other. To show empathy. Find resources that help you to get smart about what is happening, how we got here, and how you can contribute to positive change. And if that is overwhelming, rest, then continue. Commit to keep doing that. And encourage others to do the same. Taking ownership of your learning and development is relevant in so many different contexts.
"When should I do that?" you might ask...
And as the message on the box says:
Tomorrow is too late,
Yesterday is over, and
Now is exactly the right moment.
So Start.

4 年Love this! I think we've reached a tipping point on a global scale... enough is enough. It's been a culmination of a lot of negativity converging all at once and I agree wholeheartedly...NOW is exactly the right moment to gain control over what has felt so out of control lately. Be kind, spread smiles, show empathy, and above all, take action against injustice once and for all. Thank you for sharing Ekpedeme “Pamay” M. Bassey!

4 年Thank you Ekpedeme “Pamay” M. Bassey. Yes, time is now for all of us to take action. In 1997, I concluded "racism exists in the USA" and had shared my observation that "it is similar to cast issues I saw growing up in India". Now in 2020, our young generation is impatient to active "equality and justice for all".
