Now that the election is over, let's come together to make America better.
Having just watched Obama's speech, I'm impressed with the leadership, maturity, and efforts to unify our country by him, Clinton, and Trump. Obama and Clinton are understandably disappointed in the results, but they're putting our country ahead of their personal agendas to unify the country and prepare for a smooth transition of power. Their grace in accepting defeat should be a role model for everyone who didn't vote for Trump, and Trump's humility in his acceptance speech should similarly motivate his supporters to do the same, understanding that we all have many friends on both sides.
We'll never agree 100% on our political priorities, but as Americans we all strive for many of the same things, including freedom, peace, opportunity, and the pursuit of happiness. I hope we can all give the incoming administration the benefit of the doubt and support them in the transition of their duties while continuing to participate in democracy by making your voices heard. Please connect with both your new and existing elected officials to let them know what issues are important to you, and what your stance is on them.
