The Asia Derivatives Conference took place in Singapore on 4 and 5 December, bringing a record number of attendees together to discuss regional trends and regulatory developments shaping the industry. ??Trade associations urge the European Commission to extend equivalence decision for UK CCPs?

FIA and several trade associations have urged the European Commission to extend indefinitely the equivalence decision for UK CCPs. The decision currently expires on 30 June 2025.??

Extending this decision “will preserve financial stability and provide EU market participants with continued access to global pools of liquidity after 30 June 2025 for a wide range of financial instruments, including products available for clearing on UK CCPs only and for products with very low liquidity on EU CCPs,” says the letter to the EU Commissioner for financial?services,?Maria Luís Albuquerque.?   • Worldwide volume of exchange-traded derivatives reached 16.7 billion contracts in November. This was down 18.8% from October 2024 but up 20.3% from November 2023.??
  • The total amount of customer funds in futures accounts at US FCMs reached $330.2 billion in October, down 3% from the previous month but up 3.7% over the last 12 months, according to the latest data. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in futures accounts was 49 in October, up from 46 a year ago but down from 54 five years ago.??
  • Trading volume on swap execution facilities reached $1.21 trillion in average notional value per day during November. This was down 11.8% from the previous month and down 1.9% from the same month of the previous year. ?
