  • Meet Tamika, one of our Women in Trades Networking events attendee out in Penrith earlier this year. Here she connected with Lauren Ripepi from Rhomberg Sersa Australia Pty Ltd (RSRG). Tamika mentioned she was keen to become a boilermaker and it captured Lauren’s full attention. Tamika was in the process of completing the Productivity Bootcamp and wanted to give this a real shot. Offered an interview, Tamika went into the Horsley Park office/workshop to meet the team and gain an understanding of a day in the life as a Boilermaker. Tamika loved the exposure and was all in! RSRG got her onboarded and signed her up to complete her Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade. WHAT A WIN! Whilst Tamika hasn’t commenced TAFE yet, she’s working on the Hawkesbury River Project on a Walkway job and on the Western Sydney Airport Line (SSTOM) Project. She’s been marking and drilling beams, doing small assembly work, cutting and cleaning with the grinder.

"It’s no different than working in a female dominated industry, don’t be scared to learn new things” - Tamika
