November in Review: A Month of Gratitude
Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation
Leading the effort to plan, fund & build the GWOT Memorial on a site befitting the significance of service in this war.
Friends and Supporters,
Throughout the month of November, we were reminded of what President Franklin Delano Roosevelt stated in his Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1943: “May we on Thanksgiving Day and on every day express our gratitude and zealously devote ourselves to our duties as individuals and as a nation.”
We at the Foundation believe our solemn duty is to honor all who have served and sacrificed in the Global War on Terrorism with a Memorial on the National Mall. We will fulfill this duty with the sanctity and reverence it deserves.
On Veterans Day, we paused and gave gratitude for all those who have worn the uniform to defend our nation. Our President and CEO Michael “Rod” Rodriguez is a Global War on Terrorism veteran – visit our site to read his heartfelt meditations on Veterans Day. Learn More
We know that not all who have contributed to defending America from terrorism wear the uniforms of the U.S. military. Our friend and former CIA Chief of Counterterrorist Operations Ric Prado reflects on the sacrifices our intelligence community brothers and sisters and their families have made, and honors the first American killed in Afghanistan in November 2001. We continue to drive our mission of constructing a Memorial on the National Mall forward. We recently appeared before the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission (NCMAC) to present and review the Foundation’s site selection plan. Learn More

The Foundation has much to be thankful for this year. We’ve made sturdy progress in site selection, fundraising, and adding key leaders to the team. We couldn’t do it without all who have joined us in our mission. On behalf of our Global War on Terrorism veterans and their families, thank you.
As always, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation. And follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
