November Newsletter

Dear Subscriber,

We hope this edition of the newsletter finds you well.

What another incredible month we have had here at WWPIS. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the month was the release of a customised version of ‘Sports Performance Parenting’ to the whole British Gymnastics Community. This project has been in the pipeline for a number of months and to finally make this available is something that we are all incredibly proud of.

We formally announced our partnership with etrainu to coincide with the official release of our first learning course for coaches on building positive relationships with our young athletes’ parents. We are incredibly excited about the projects that we have in the pipeline with etrainu so watch this space!

We have been on the road a lot over the last month and there is certainly a much greater appetite for live sessions once again and the power of sharing a room with people. This is great to see and long may it continue.

We were recently asked what we do and I will not be getting a job in the marketing world as on the spot I could not articulate it in simple terms. However, on reflection our work has certainly become, ‘how do we all work best together to help support young people to fulfil their potential both in and out of their sport’ and the workshops that we have delivered this month for management, coaches, parents and young people has certainly reinforced our view that everyone has a key role to play.

Recordings for Season 5 of the Parents in Sport Podcast have already started and we will be returning in January 2024 and with some incredible guests and topics lined up for our audience.

You can find out more about a number of these items in this month’s newsletter.

NEW LEARNING COURSE AND ETRAINU PARTNERSHIP

We are pleased to formally announce our partnership with etrainu, a leader in online training and business solutions, delivering eLearning through our centralised Learning Management System (LMS).

Founded in 2007, etrainu has grown to over 2 million learners benefitting from hundreds of industry-tailored courses.

etrainu has partnered with some of the largest sports organisations in the world, including US Youth Soccer (USYS), American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), PGA Tour, Hockey Australia, Gymnastics Australia, and Surf Life Saving Australia.

The partnership will see Working with Parents in Sport and etrainu deliver a series of courses aimed at empowering coaches and parents to foster positive engagement and relationships with young athletes.?

BRITISH GYMNASTICS SPORTS PERFORMANCE PARENTING

Sports Performance Parenting is now available to the entire British Gymnastics Community. Following positive feedback from parents in the performance pathway we are delighted that this has now been made available across the whole sport.

The book complements the ‘Sports Performance Parenting’ workshop/webinar series that Sarah Murray (Performance Edge) and ourselves are currently running across a number of performance environments and gymnastics clubs across the country.

DUBLIN GAA VISIT

What a brilliant day we had back with Dublin GAA working with their Games Promotion Officers and parents. We covered a whole multitude of topics with the GPOs with loads of interaction, plenty of humour, and lots of teamwork.

We looked at how we build positive relationships with our players' parents, before spending time looking at 'High Performance' and 'Fun'. What that means to us on a personal level and on a coaching level, what it may mean for the children and how we can create coaching environments that place real value on the development of key character traits in young people alongside their sporting development.

We then ran our introductory session to 'Sports Performance Parenting' with Academy parents and coaches at the Sport Ireland Campus.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS AND CUSTOMISED PLATFORMS

Alongside our live and virtual sessions we are seeing an increased demand for customised WWPIS platforms.

This month saw us add more exclusive content for our membership including ‘Wellbeing Bingo – Supporting our young athletes’ created by Maimee Titmuss Morris, UK Sports Institute Performance Lifestyle Coach.

These platforms give organisations the opportunity to resource entire communities in a cost effective, sustainable way. Many organisations use the content within their own social media channels, team and parent meetings and regular newsletters to help support those within their communities.

The added bonus is that organisations are also able to add some of their own content to the platform, which certainly helps in bringing it all to life.?

If you would like to find out more about customised platforms then email us at [email protected].

GYMNASTIC CLUB VISITS

This month saw us visit Notts Gymnastics Academy and Southampton Gymnastics Club.

Our day at Notts Gymnastics Academy saw us deliver sessions to both junior and senior parents and we are looking forward to working with them again over the coming months.

We spent two full days at Southampton Gymnastics Club working with management, coaches, parents and the welfare team to look at how we can create the best possible environment for their young gymnasts.

We left feeling we had made a lot of progress in a short space of time and also armed with a number of ideas on how we can improve our offering specifically to the world of acrobatic gymnastics.

If you would like to discuss a potential club visit then please email [email protected]
