- On 15th November 2023, the UK Supreme Court (UKSC) unanimously upheld the?Court of Appeal’s Judgment?and found that the government’s ‘Rwanda Policy’ is unlawful. Dr Chelvan - Head of Immigration and Public Law at 33 Bedford Row - was invited to discuss the Rwanda Judgment on BBC World News on the day of the judgment. - Dr Chelvan was also invited to speak on the Ian Collins Show on TalkTV on 16th November 2023. Dr Chelvan debated with?ex UKIP leader Henry Bolton OBE over "how the Government will stop the small boats."
- This month, Chambers also saw two members receive appointments. Sandip Patel KC FCIArb?has been appointed to the Legal Services Panel for the Government of the British Virgin Islands. The role of the Legal Services Panel is to advise and represent the Government of the British Virgin Islands in a wide range of civil and commercial legal matters. Ravinder Saimbhi was appointed as a member of the Executive Committee of The South Eastern Circuit. Her term will start in January 2024 and she looks forward to contributing to the development and progress of our profession. We wish her the very best in this role.

- 33 Bedford Row Arbitrator Hon.?Barry Leon?spoke recently on a panel at a?VISards webinar to assist students in India and other parts of the?#globalsouth to compete in the?VisMoot and?VisMootEast.?“How to Draft an Effective Memorandum for Claimant” focused on effective written submissions, particularly on procedural issues, that arise in a Moot Problem.
- Haydée Dijkstal - international criminal law and international human rights law barrister at 33 Bedford Row - will be speaking on 7th December in NYC at the ICCBA side event to the ICC assembly of states parties annual session.
