Announcing MOU between the American Egg Board, United Egg Producers, and the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs to Collaborate to Advance Egg Industry Sustainability?
The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs (US-RSPE), American Egg Board (AEB), and United Egg Producers (UEP) have signed?of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on industry-wide sustainability initiatives. This partnership will drive efforts to showcase sustainability advancements made by the egg industry.?
The collaboration will focus on advancing the sustainability of the egg value chain through leadership, innovation, and multi-stakeholder engagement.?
The MOU agreement highlights the roles of key representatives from each organization in US-RSPE committees to ensure that the egg sector is well represented in sustainability discussions. The parties will collaborate on identifying on-farm measurements and developing tools to help egg producers meet long-term sustainability goals and evolving customer needs.?
This collaboration centers around the US-RSPE Framework tool., which is the first-ever multi-stakeholder sustainability reporting framework for U.S. supply chains of chickens, turkeys, and eggs from producer to final customer. The Framework was created with input from stakeholders across the U.S. poultry and egg supply chain to help drive continuity in the survey space and allow users to share their sustainability journeys.?
- AEB will lead the collection and aggregation of sustainability survey data from major food and retail companies.?
- US-RSPE will continuously update the US-RSPE Framework Reporting Tool to meet customer and industry needs.?
- Together, AEB and US-RSPE will develop an online tool for producers to complete the master survey, providing a platform for sharing anonymized data for continuous improvement reporting.?
- UEP and AEB will assemble a special task force of producer leaders to help guide this survey work and set long-term goals for the industry regarding sustainability.?
This partnership is poised to make significant strides in egg production sustainability by aligning efforts across the egg supply chain. AEB, UEP, and US-RSPE are committed to creating a forum where egg producers and sustainability leaders can collaborate to improve sustainability and explore new opportunities for continuous advancement.?
??
The American Egg Board (AEB) was created by an Act of Congress in 1976 at the request of America’s egg farmers, who desired to pool resources for national category-level egg marketing. Home to The Incredible Egg and Egg Nutrition Center, AEB is dedicated to increasing demand for all U.S. eggs and egg products. For more than 40 years, America’s egg farmers have supported this mission by funding the AEB. The AEB is 100 percent farmer-funded, and those funds directly support the research, education and promotion necessary to market eggs.?
?
Through active leadership and partnerships, United Egg Producers (UEP) represents the voice of American egg farmers across the agricultural community. UEP is a cooperative of U.S. egg farmers collaborating to address legislative, regulatory and advocacy issues impacting egg production. UEP and U.S. egg farmers work diligently to advance high standards for egg safety, environmental responsibility, and hen well-being while producing a nutritious, affordable supply of eggs.?
