Happy November, readers!

Hope you’ve been staying warm as winter arrives! We’re back with some exciting updates, news and achievements in our November newsletter.??

Moments of Pride

Learning Opportunities

This past month, the academy presented multiple opportunities to inspire learners by giving them a chance to meet influential industry professionals and take educational trips for a more practical learning approach. ?

Social Change

The BA (Hons) Fashion: Design & Accessories learners met with ?????????? ??.?? ?????????? ??, a dedicated social scholar and activist, who passionately disseminated her expertise on fashion within the realms of inclusion, diversity, decolonization, and social justice. She enlightened the learners with her belief in the potential of fashion as a facilitator of social change – and how learners and emerging fashion entrepreneurs can make use of this power that fashion has, to truly make an impact. ?

Branding Inspiration

Another educational session that our learners were part of, was a lecture by Ivana Nohel, the founder of Casta Nohel. Ivana conducted this lecture at our Mayfair campus with our BA (Hons) Fashion: design, Branding & Entrepreneurship learners, taking them on her inspirational journey as a specialised consumer product designer, branding, illustration, and licensing – sharing her insights on how one can produce impactful branding from colour to smell. ?She's worked with renowned luxury brands: De Beers, Manolo Blahnik, and Browns Fashion, specialising in a holistic approach to design, creating cohesive and compelling brand experiences for prestigious luxury brands.

Fabric Sourcing?

Our BA (Hons) Fashion: Design & Accessories students embarked on an exhilarating fabric-sourcing adventure in the vibrant locales of Soho and Goldhawk Road. Accompanied by three of JCA's exceptional staff members – Stefán A.R Orschel-Read , the Design & Accessories Course leader; ZEKARYAS SOLOMON ????? ???? , JCA's skilled technician and mentor; and the Head of Creative Journey, Rebecca Russell-Turner .?

A blend of education and hands-on experience – our learners delved into the heart of fabric knowledge, immersing themselves in the dynamic world of textiles. The goal? To apply this newfound wisdom directly to their design endeavours, making their creative journeys truly unforgettable! ??? ?

Festive Fun

To kickstart the festive season, JCA’s staff hosted Christmas parties at both of our campuses, Mayfair and Boston Manor for all our learners to get a well-deserved party to kick back, relax, sip some drinks & get their groove on before the holidays begin! There was a live DJ, a free bar access – with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options for all learners to enjoy – sweet treats like minced pies for Christmas & an exciting photography corner for learners to capture their Christmas party fits while putting on some goofy?Xmas accessories. ?

Manchester UCAS ?

JCA’s enthusiastic team once again, represented the academy at UCAS Manchester – meeting with some of the most excited and talented, young aspiring designers. At the busy two-day event, JCA’s graduated learners shared their experience while studying at JCA and their journeys after graduating as young fashion entrepreneurs, alongside Director Stephen Smith and Head of Student Engagement, Sadia Anwar who interacted with young students and guided them with application processes, enlightened them with the offerings of the academy and passed on their knowledge through valuable advice. We want to thank all those who showed interest in the academy and hope to see everyone next year – Applications are open for 2024! You can apply in both places; through UCAS and our JCA Website. ?

What's Coming Up? ??

November came to an end on an exciting note, and we are super excited about what’s coming up as we move on into the New Year! ?

JCA is launching quite a few exciting things for the year 2024; beginning with a VIP Event taking place soon enough, that will introduce the Summer School 2024, an exciting end-of-the-year competition and more!

The academy is soon going to be introducing a series of Short Courses that will be elaborated on soon enough before the start of the next year! Alongside this, there are talks of a brand-new segment of JCA’s educational sessions that will be called ‘JCA INSPIRE’.

Stay tuned for updates on these brand-new activities that you can participate in with Jimmy Choo’s Academy, in 2024! ?
