A Novel Written Then That Resonates Now
We've got a publishing date, March 21, 2025, for my novel 'SweetSpot: Now and Then' that my publisher slotted in #fantasy #romance #genres.
Ironic that since I began promoting this story about the mayhem and magic my protagonist lived through over one year's time, I've never seen more information, discussions et al, on the topic of women disappearing once #menopause hits. Historically, and like the good girls so many of us were raised to be, we did disappear and many carried all that stigma the culture put upon this time in life #menopause, as expected as #erectile #dysfunction is expected among men. Both of these natural physical occurrences in humans is explored in this novel about one woman raised to be a good, christian girl. She was until she couldn't be anymore.
In this video snippet I dropped below, Lisa Ling discusses that once verboten subject, #menopause with Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show. When Lisa went to her MD with ALL kinds of symptoms, menopause never came up. Lisa was 50 at the time. Instead, her MD recommended a drug to treat depression/anxiety. These times seem to be shifting and me and my protagonist in 'SweetSpot: Now and Then' are grateful for this shift.
