Due to the strong and temperature dependent absorption of water, the usage of conventional IR-transmission (FTIR) is not very suitable for the analysis in water. For studying the binding of small molecules to proteins this new approach allows for samples that are not limited to few microns of thickness: www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-03866-w
