NOVAP Litchis
During the first week of October, we installed Novap's at a 3-4 year old litchi orchard near Komatipoort, Mpumalanga. We converted a double drip line delivering 24L/H to 4 x 4L/H Novaps, thus delivering a total of 16L/H. A saving of just over 30% for now. The longer you irrigate with Novap, the better your water saving becomes, up to a point where the moisture in the soil and the need of the plant is in balance. After this point, you just top up the soil moisture as the tree absorb the water at root level. Remember, there is NO evaporation! Excited to see the results at this orchard!
Novap, smart and efficient deep root irrigation! #novap
A 250mm deep hole is dug 700mm away from the base of the tree. A 100mm deep trench is made from the hole towards the base of the tree, in which the 12mm riser pipe of the Novap will be buried
Novap is covered with soil.
The riser pipe is bent towards the tree base, and covered with soil.
The tip of the 12mm riser pipe is above the soil surface. Here we insert the 12-6mm, which is connected to the 4L/H regulator, which is also above ground, by means of a spaghetti tubing. This allows the water to flow from the regulator to the Novap that is at the root level.
