Nova Scotia recognized as a top travel destination for 2025

Nova Scotia has earned a spot among the 50 best places to travel in 2025, according to Travel + Leisure magazine. Although the list is not ranked, the Maritime province is celebrated alongside renowned destinations like Rome, Hong Kong, Fiji, and Barbados.

Nova Scotia is featured in the “For Moments on the Water” section, where the magazine highlights the province's stunning natural beauty and coastal experiences, including Halifax’s harbour cruises. The appeal of increased flight options to Halifax Stanfield Airport, upscale accommodations like the Muir Hotel in downtown Halifax, and the capital's strategic location as a gateway to attractions such as the Bay of Fundy and Cape Breton Island further enhance its allure. Cape Breton Island was previously recognized as the second-best island in Canada by the magazine's readers, lauded for its breathtaking hiking trails that navigate winding canyons, waterfalls, and dramatic cliffs.

Nova Scotia stands out as one of only two Canadian regions on the list, with Yukon being the other, highlighted under “For Nature Lovers.”

To promote its tourism sector, Tourism Nova Scotia actively creates editorial content that showcases the province’s diverse attractions and experiences to inspire travel. In 2023, the provincial government invested over $4 million in initiatives to support tourism businesses and communities through marketing, digital adoption, and product development.

Between January and July 2024, Nova Scotia welcomed more than one million visitors, while the province recorded a total of 2.2 million visitors in 2023, highlighting its growing appeal as a travel destination.
