Instead of removing notifications one. by. one... We now have a "full Communication Settings" toggle list!
To see them, go to Notifications and click View settings, like shown below on the left...
On the app, you have to swipe down a tad to see the View Settings on the top...
What's In There
We have the 6 categories that include the following...
What Do You Mean?
Here are all the settings under each category (with a count of the settings in each)...
?Invitations and messages (4)
? Career advice matches
? Career advice recommendations
? Career advice requests
? InMail reminders
?Jobs and opportunities (7)
? Job application viewed
? Job recommendations
? New Leads for Profinder Pros
? ProFinder 4-day reminders

? Activity on your articles
? Activity on your job updates
? Activity on your post comments
Keep this on if you want to see when someone else also directly engages with comments on posts.
? Activity on your posts
In this case, your does not appear to be accurate. You get activity on your posts and others. When this is ON, you get the following notifications:
- "X and Y others liked your post" (Makes sense)
- "X and Y others also commented on Z's post" (Huh - why someone else's post?)
Try experimenting with keeping this off if you want to remove being told every time someone else also indirectly engages on posts.
? Activity on your video comments
? Activity on your videos
? Analytics on your posts
? Meeting highlights
? Offsite creator share confirmation
? Onsite share first time creation confirmation
? Onsite share infrequent creation confirmation

See What I Mean?
Here's a picture of the biggest - and perhaps most important - category, *Updates about you...
What Does This Mean?
Well, it should mean we have a lot more control of our notifications, and perhaps even our feed.
I learned from #TheLinkedInGuru that we used to have similar settings of our feed.
Wouldn't that be nice? A feed and notifications of which WE have some control!?
UPDATE December 2017
I can't figure most of these out, AND THEY KEEP CHANGING! So I just leave them all on, else I start missing some notifications. Too bad. Would have cut down a lot of the clutter and kept me more engaged.

7 年Such a helpful article thanks Jared J.Wiese . Unfortunately, I am still not getting the option with "Improve your notifications"...is this button / section not available to everybody yet? Any idea when it might become available?

7 年It has been at least a week to ten days, since I got this notifications menu and it has been set to receiving notifications about articles published by my connections and still no actual notifications - as in this case. I even gave it awhile - two days - to pick up that I should be notified..... Maybe my comment from the newsfeed canceled it out. But I doubt it. I will certainly shout about getting notified of someone's article, first time I see it. I did a 'the home button back where it belongs' dance on friday. BTW - you have notification options I don't have: Who's viewed your profile while you were free and anonymous ? Company needs your feedback ? Contacts from your address book joined LinkedIn ? Follow recommendations ? Highlights of likes and comments from your network ? Offsite creator share confirmation ? Onsite share first time creation confirmation ? Onsite share infrequent creation confirmation

7 年Jared J.Wiese graciously spent time on the phone with me this morning to take me step by step through smart strategies re: notifications. He explained to me what Deb Helfrich and .......ANDY FOOTE....... were talking about.

7 年Frankly, LI needs to roll back to its old format - why did it "fix" something that wasn't broken? But the improvements the author set forth sound better than the current format. I shouldn't have to click to the "groups" section separately to find updates and likes.

7 年Great! Thanks for the heads up Jared J.Wiese. The one notification which everyone who writes (long form) on LinkedIn will be excited about: "Updates about your network / New articles published by your connections", provided it can be 'fine tuned'. So if I want to follow Bruce Johnston and Sid Clark but not Peter Facebook-Noise, I'll be a happy clam. Could it be that all of our connections who are called Followers, will actually be able to do that??? <sigh> <of> <relief>
