Noticing
‘Write about a woman with strength’ was the homework they pondered and chose
And yet none wrote, save one
They looked at famous women, big lifters, quoted talkers, celebrated hosts
And yet none wrote, save one
They quoted quotes, taken from the internet, tried definitions in different languages
And yet none wrote, save one
They thought, they cogitated, they let ‘the boys in the backroom’ do their stuff
And yet none wrote, save one
They read out what they’d found, shared the mind map of planning all spidery and crammed
And yet none wrote, save one
They discussed what they thought made a woman with strength, her characteristics, her humbleness, her charm
And yet still none wrote, save one
Why did they find it so difficult to put pen to paper, fingers to keys to write a story which would normally flow with ease?
For that, ask not the none wrote, but the save one
I wrote about myself as another might see, picked out my uniqueness, put myself right outside to feel free
Because I am not the none,
I am the only one of me.
