I wish you'd really fix this. Like, right now!
This one thing might be preventing your leads from taking any action on your profile or reaching out to you!
Let's say you visit someone's profile on LinkedIn and that person is a graphic designer and you really need a graphic designer, like yesterday!
What do you do?
You send them a connection request. Now, they might not be online then to accept your connection request.
And so let's say they accept your connection request after 15 hours. It happens after a few days in some cases, TBH.
Now, you really like this person from their profile and their experience and you checked out their website and it has all the right portfolio pieces and you think you will be a great match together.
But, right after you sent them a request to connect, you started scrolling further down on your search for a graphics designer.
And imagine you came across someone who also looks like a great fit for you. Now this person has their email address and of course, you can send them a connection request.
But here's what they also have- a direct way to reach out to them.
Voila, you can schedule a call with them right away! They have this Calendly link on their profile Featured section that allows anyone to schedule a call with them.
Because you like this person a lot, you straight away schedule a call.
Now, the conversation with the first person may or may not happen based on how this call goes. Because by scheduling a call with the second person, you have now committed to speaking with them about hiring them or collaborating with them on projects.
And that level of commitment has not yet happened with the first person.
And may not happen ever!
Do you see where I'm going with this?
You need something on your Featured section that allows your ideal clients to take action right then and there.
Besides a Calendly link, you could feature your website contact page which should ideally have a tiny form that someone can quickly fill up.
This is essentially going back to the age-old principle of - If you don't tell them what to do, they won't do it.
So tell them what to do!!
And this strategy will totally depend on how you interact with your clients and what sort of a funnel you have.
Okay, now I know what you're thinking-
Divya, if everyone is able to schedule a call, my time will vanish faster than I can imagine!
Look, you can still set boundaries through a Calendly link or through a contact form on your website.
Here's how-
Post a few questions on your Calendly link or the Contact form-
What's the project you're reaching out for?
Where in the world are you?
My rates start at $1000 per project and I charge X for Z amount of work. Does that sound right for your budgets?
See what I'm doing there?
We don't want to shoo away people based on their budgets. But we want to respect their time and ours as well.
And that's the way to do it.
Go ahead- think about what's the first step your ideal client should take from your profile and how can you ease that path for them.
Implement this and I'll wait to hear from you!
P.S. DM me with a screenshot of your Featured section + a link to your profile after you've implemented this for a bonus tip!
P.P.S. You see, this is not a hack like the ones growth hackers on LinkedIn give you. This is a strategy. A clear strategy to think about your ideal clients when you're working on LinkedIn to generate leads.
If you resonate with this and believe your ideal clients are hanging out on LinkedIn, I am opening up LinkedIn Lead Gen Academy for 20 committed copywriters, content creators, and other solopreneurs in January 2021. Get on the waitlist now to hear about it first when I open the gates!

2 年this is a great idea, however if you use the Link option in the featured section on LinkedIn, it scrapes your Calendly profile photo and looks horrible! Any workarounds?
