Whether you're an old school R'n'B fan, or you've heard the saying from Dr Seuss, Myles Horton, or Jim Rohn, there's a line that has always stuck with me: a reminder that if we want to see change, we've got to be the ones to initiate it. It's a concept echoed in countless songs and movements throughout history, and it's at the core of what I aim to do with my music.

Since recording "Look Around" at the age of 10, a song about environmental and social issues, I've been on a path to use music not just as an art form, but as a platform for addressing the bigger picture. My upcoming album continues this tradition, tackling themes that resonate on a global scale:

  • "I Hope You Never" challenges the cycle of negativity and retribution, advocating for a higher road.
  • "Seven Two" delves into making the most out of difficult situations, emphasizing resilience over circumstance.
  • "Harmony", celebrates diversity, drawing a parallel to how different voices and sounds create richer, more compelling music, I mean a richer and more fulfilling life..
  • "Love [We All Want It]" and "Wishbone" discuss current global conflicts haven't been ignored either. The songs aim to shed light on these issues, hoping to contribute to a dialogue for peace.

I'm realistic about what music can achieve. It's not a magic solution, but it's a starting point for dialogue, awareness, and community building.

The first single, "Harmony," is on its way, along with a series of events designed to spark conversation. As we gear up for the release, I invite you to think about the role you play in driving change. We all have our tools and platforms. What's yours? Keep an eye out for "Harmony" and the events leading up to its release. It's time to use whatever we've got at our disposal to push for the change we want to see.

Of course, there's also songs that are far more personal on the album, because music is such an incredible tool for self expression, but also to help the writer [in this case: me] understand and process my thoughts and emotions.

But what if it wasn't just me writing songs to help me understand and process my thoughts and feelings?

What if it was YOU? Or your teenager?

Last night, I had a one off private YES Youth Coaching session with a 12year old boy, and I tell you what: it was incredible. He already came to me with a pretty broad understanding and appreciation for music [how many 12 year olds do you know who listen to The Smiths??], but to guide him through his own thoughts and ideas into a song? It was pretty epic.

And I can't wait to do it on a bigger scale this summer in partnership with Hard Rock Cafe!

Anyway, as we gear up for the release of Harmony, I invite you to think about the role you play in driving change. We all have our tools and platforms. What's yours? Keep an eye out for "Harmony" and the events leading up to its release. It's time to use whatever we've got at our disposal to push for the change we want to see.

Have an amazing day on purpose,

Emma G
