We've rebranded as PricklyPear ! In early 2023, we began sharing weekly content (see below) with a focus on neurodivergent leaders and we truly hope it has made a difference for you. Recently, we introduced you to a new company that I (Ken) and Petra Russell, PCC, CPC, ELI-MP have launched to specifically serve neurodivergent leaders.
As Executive Coaches and Leadership Trainers we've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of neurodivergent leaders and coach them through many leadership and workplace challenges. Each week we will continue to share resources and insights for neurodivergent leaders and the rest of us.
This week we are introducing the second topic in a new Wheel of Neurodivergent Leadership.
Stay tuned for news on our new LinkedIn Group aimed at supporting the neurodivergent and neurodiverse leadership community, launching soon.

There is Nothing Wrong but Something Is Missing
You don’t need to be fixed. You have everything you need. You are naturally creative, resourceful and whole.
This is a core belief in coaching. We aren’t fixing anything. We create a safe, judgement free place for leaders to explore what it is that they really want.
What do you really want?
Neurodivergent leaders have been living with judgement for most of their existence. Even the way we talk about neurodivergent traits can seem judgmental and also there is sometimes an energy of “less than” or “better than” depending on the trait. As an example, communication skills are stereotypically lacking in ND folks. Creativity and innovation are stereotypically “better” in ND individuals.
Living with what is right or wrong about us doesn’t work. First of all, none of us will ever reach perfection so if we hold ourselves to an ideal—we will always experience failure. Secondly, shame is one of the worst motivators ever. So let’s stop that.
So what works?
The best way to create a shift for us is to get clear about where we are and where we want to be. We need to get clear about what we want to create—what it might look like if we grew in different areas of our leadership.
One of my favorite questions in this regard is “What is missing, the presence of which would make a difference?” I often use the example of Michael Jordan who later in his career added the fade away jumper to his skill set. He was already the greatest basketball player ever—and this just made him that much more effective.
Think about this for yourself. For your leadership? What trait—or way of being—is missing right now—the presence of which would make a difference? Share it with us.
Don’t miss our next LinkedIn Live where we will be introducing a Wheel of Neurodivergent Leadership. This wheel is just a way for us to look at how we feel about our leadership traits now and which ones we want to grow. Come join us and join the ongoing conversation on LinkedIn.
