I thought it was time to share what I am doing and why...

I am very fortunate to be involved with a New Zealand health tech company that I truly believe will become a healthcare legacy…

For those of you who know me, I would not be involved in something that did not work. I, like many, were skeptical at first, but this works.

It all started (for me) when my Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2017. He was given 6 months to live. Primary in the lung, spread to his brain, adrenal and bones (femur and elbow). He couldn’t sleep despite the strong opioid's he was on (which of course had other side effects). He had no energy during the day to do anything. His quality of life was almost non-existent. Too sick for chemotherapy, he had three surgeries and radiotherapy.

I heard through a colleague/friend about Optimum Bio Innovations Limited (OBIL), an Auckland -based research and development company. Its health tech application was still in beta testing but heard it may help relieve pain and improve sleep quality.

In 2014 the first medical application of the current Optimum Bio technology was born out of the Founder’s desperation to help his father manage debilitating symptoms from a range of life threatening illnesses.

From that point forward (2014~), people who heard about the early success of the tech asked if it could help them / their loved ones until 2017 when it was decided, through moral obligation, to set up a company and see if the tech could be commercialised and made more widely available.

Optimum Bio Sound Therapy (OBST) is a proprietary modulation of infra-sound frequencies, now delivered through a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) carried on sound waves and accessed via a Tablet and specific set of ear buds in the privacy of the home.

My Dad thought well….if it’s pain free, non-invasive, what is there to lose???He gave it a go and used it overnight while sleeping leading up to his third (leg) surgery.

Not only did his sleep quality improve significantly (as he was not in pain), but he recovered very quickly from his leg surgery (the surgical team were amazed at how quickly he recovered) enabling him to head home earlier than expected and spend more quality time with our family.

Sadly, Dad passed in Oct 2017, but I am forever grateful that OBST gave him a better quality of life in the time he had left.

My mum, who has suffered a lifetime of severe migraines that impacted her daily living as she was often bedridden for a week at a time,??then tried OBST to see if it would help her. She has not had a migraine now in 5 years…and has gone on to invest in the company three times. Her doctor has told her to keep doing what she is doing as her vitals are great.??Mum continues to use the tech today as she says she wants to “age well”..

I also suffered migraines (not as bad as mum’s) for 15 years - mine were caused by nerve damage. I am happy to report that I have been migraine-free for 4 years now, with no neck pain.

Losing Dad made me really question myself. Why am I here? What’s my purpose???I ended up going out on my own to help NZ businesses in Japan. I believed that was my calling. Alongside several other clients, I began consulting to the Founder of Optimum Bio Innovations with the goal of getting OBST to Japan at some point.

As I got more involved and witnessed more people benefiting from OBST, seeing their hope turn to belief when the tech seemed to bring them much needed relief, I jumped in boots and all and decided to focus all my efforts on helping get this tech to the world. I even sold my boat(!!) to buy shares. It’s worthy of a mention too that 30 of our 33 shareholders (as at April 2023), or someone else in their family, were users of the tech before they became shareholders..testament to the fact that the tech does work…

Everyone in the company’s Exec team (based in NZ, US and Canada) are all involved for the same reason - we have all lived through very raw health-related experiences with loved ones, and the tech has helped. We have also all personally benefited, and continue to benefit, from the tech. The whole team has a genuine desire to help people and get this to the world - making our solution as affordable and accessible as we can.

OBST is now registered with the US FDA as a Class 1 Medical Device - and under that registration what we are allowed to say at this point is that our device may help relieve pain. As such, we have launched with a focus on helping people with constantly recurring and long-standing pain conditions - including the likes of fibromyalgia, migraines and helping to mitigate the pain often associated with chemotherapy.

In 11 countries, over the last eight years of research and development, the most common user-reported benefits outside of pain reduction management are cognitive clarity (clearing brain fog), sleep quality improvement, stress dissipation management, energy level enhancement, wound recovery management and nausea reduction and relief. The Company’s proprietary technology can also be delivered over infrared light, via an off-the-shelf heart rate monitor.?? In January this year, we registered (in NZ) Optimum Photo Biomodulation Therapy (OPBMT), which has been tested in three (U.S., Canada and NZ) countries over the last five years. This modality was initially developed to help special needs children who could not have anything in / near their ears.

Based on user reported benefits, OPBMT appears to offer more targeted / localised pain relief - such as pain associated with endometriosis (endo cramps), back and hip pain, knee injuries and the like.??Needless to say, we are experiencing significant early interest from the high performance and professional sports arena in helping with “return-to-train”. This has become one of the company’s main focus areas.??

OPBMT is registered with Medsafe in NZ as a Class 1 medical device that is drug free, pain-free and non-invasive. With new capital, the Company will register OPBMT with the US FDA.

Currently both services are available through the one subscription here in NZ, while only Optimum Bio Sound Therapy is available in the US and Canada. As we grow, we will register both services in more markets.

We will continue to work with third parties to develop and run clinical trials to validate additional benefits of our technology that have been observed over the last 8 years.

We are incredibly excited about where this is heading.

If all our technology does is offer some hope and relief to those in pain, that alone is quite something…as it was for my Dad…
