Notes and Chords: Your Life as Music

Notes and Chords: Your Life as Music

"Hey congrats on your position at LinkedIn. So are you still coaching?"

"Yep! I'm currently full and have a waitlist. We can schedule a consult now if you want to work with me. Your sessions would start in May or June."

"I remember you used to work with lawyers, but now you've moved on?"

"Well, I have coaching clients who are lawyers. In January I recorded a new CLE on well-being for lawyers. And this month I have three corporate sessions -- mindfulness workshops for legal teams."

"Oh, I thought you'd left freelancing for corporate?"

"I use my gifts doing work I love, with people I respect, for people I care about. Right now that includes working within a global corporation, teaching meditation classes, having a coaching practice, and delivering mindfulness workshops within other companies."

"How did you do that?"

"I created it! I'm designing it!"

"I didn't know it could work like that."

"Yeah, neither did I -- at first. And then I decided I wanted to use my gifts doing work I loved, with people I respect, for people I care about. And I was open to what that looked like. And I'm creating it! And I'm just getting started!"

Friends, you are not a single note.

You are a chord!

The parts of you that seem to not fit together?

There is a resonance of YOU that can only exist through the presence of these various aspects of you.

This might feel weird at first, because you probably have different ways that people know you.

Some know the "note" of my legal background, some know the "note" of mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. Some know the "note" of entrepreneurial work, others know the "note" of corporate citizen.

It's all fine, it all works -- be a chord! Be music! Be sound and silence, be tension and release, be the song of you in the universe.

PS - Deep bows and gratitude to all of my collaborators, teammates, students, clients, and teachers.

Its like you took the Zanders' book "The Art of Possibility" and you are embodying it in both this post and your life. Fantastic!

Thank you, Kim! I love your music analogy, and I'm inspired by your vision: "I decided I wanted to use my gifts doing work I loved, with people I respect, for people I care about. And I was open to what that looked like. And I'm creating it! And I'm just getting started!" ??
