NoTech Friday #1: Decision Fatigue
Note: I've written similar content as part of the LinkedIn post, but sometimes the post gets lost. Hence I am keeping it as an article as well.
Today's post will not be related to Kubernetes, Terraform or any technical related. But about a more critical topic Mental Health.
I have decided to take a break from technical posts every Friday and post something about mental health, which I learned and read from experience.
Today's topic is Decision Fatigue.
We make thousands of decisions in a day. Examples could be:
These are just a few examples, but decisions can be in work-life, physical, business, etc.
After some point, your ability to make better decisions runs out, and you feel tired and stressed ??. The official term for this condition is known as Decision Fatigue. To avoid this condition and save mental energy for better stuff (law of conservation of energy), we should follow a few simple practices:
(These are just a few examples, but with this, you can optimise other workflows as well )
Mark Zuckerberg is an excellent example of how one can overcome decision fatigue. In case you don't know, Mark and many entrepreneurs keep seven different shirts of similar colour so that they don't have to make decisions about what to wear in the morning and instead use that mental energy for better stuff.
Note: I wrote this post as I recently felt similar and came across the decision fatigue term and thought I should share it with a broader audience for more awareness. If in doubt, always consult with your doctor and therapist?? ??.
Happy Friday ??
