No matter what subject you're into. No matter what industry you work in. You're likely overwhelmed by the content available to help you improve. If you're like me, there's more content available than you have hours in the day to consume.
Recently, Lex Fridman interviewed Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic. The interview was over 5 hours long (5:15:00 to be exact). One podcast - 5 flipping hours, and it's dense.
Thankfully, it was available on YouTube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugvHCXCOmm4 ). That means I could add it as a source to NotebookLM.
NotebookLM is an example of what's called a Small Language Model (SLM). Essentially, it relies on your sources to do any real work. In fact, adding at least one source is a requirement for every "Notebook" you create within NotebookLM. It can be in the following formats:
Within a minute of adding a link to the podcast on YouTube, NotebookLM allowed me to generate an FAQ, Study Guide, Table of Contents, and a Briefing Doc for the entire 5-hour podcast. That's pretty amazing.
In addition, I can chat with the content - asking questions from my perspective.

I also got this handy-dandy summary:
This YouTube transcript features a conversation between Lex Fridman and three experts from Anthropic, a leading AI company. Dario Amodei, the CEO, discusses the rapid advancement of AI, expressing optimism about its potential but concern about the concentration of power. Amanda Askell, a philosopher, explores the ethical and societal implications of advanced AI, focusing on the development of AI character and responsible interactions. Chris Olah, a pioneer in mechanistic interpretability, explains how this research method helps to understand and improve AI safety by examining the inner workings of AI models. The conversation covers various topics, including AI timelines, safety protocols, and the future of human-AI interaction.
The cherry on top is obviously an AI-built, podcast-styled audio file. They call it an Audio Overview. It reduced the 5-hour podcast into an easy-to-understand, 18-minute .wav file that I listened to while walking my dog. To get started, I needed to coach the AI podcasters so the summary would focus on things that interest me:
Once I hit "Generate," it took about 10 minutes to build the Audio Overview.

3 个月Great tips. I keep saying how much content there is. I get reports all the time that are 80 or 100 pages. Much too long to be able to read. Good to know this tool exists.
