Note of thanks to Gene Alvarez & Gartner

I was digging through my old emails to understand when I decided to learn more about “Computer Vision”. It turns out that it was EXACTLY?3 years ago.

Back then, after some initial research on Google, decided to embark upon seeking more help from Gartner. It was deemed to be a POC call since we didn’t have a subscription back in that time!

Little did I expect so much to unfold in a “POC call”..

But the generous Gene Alvarez went over and above in helping me understand the hype cycle so that we can take a calculated risk with the new tech

Why was this so important back in the time?

We were building a brand new terminal (T2) and like every brick and motor project; Tech is plugged in at the end, once the structure is ready. We didn’t have it any different, with very little time left, we needed a tech that was nimble and adaptive.

So we took the advice seriously and curated a list of use cases that needed to be implemented. We then quickly conducted a POC to understand the art of the possibilities!?It was very encouraging having work with a few companies in a highly iterative process. Finally, there was an RFP that was out and we had Industry.AI to enable the cause.

What was critical for the success was the leadership to help us champion the cause and Tejpreet Chopra, stepped fwd to help us see the light. The team implemented “Trust AI” to solve the puzzle. Trust AI is an enterprise AI product that uses Artificial Intelligence to analyze live video feeds across terminals to provide predictive alerts to improve customer experience, security, and safety.

Having implemented several use cases and while the journey continues, it feels like a well-calculated risk that we undertook. While this tech has attained stable operations, we can now realize the investment in terms of the flexibility it offers with API integration.

Finally, here is a submission and a?true testimony of the implementation, where we can now realize parts of our company vision. Being able to secure a lost Octogenarian at the airport, enabled us to realize the 2 company vision “Touch lives and create memorable experiences”.
