A Note on Mental Health Day
The past couple of years have been tough, and testing, both physically and mentally. In between all this ruckus though, a welcome change that we saw was Mental Health becoming a household conversation in India. On this Mental Health Day, let’s keep this conversation going as we share some of my insights on it with the Classplus Clan.
Mental health isn’t an ‘end’ but a ‘means’ i.e. it’s a process and not the end. Sound mental health both affects and is affected by these very processes.?
First up is Emotional Intelligence i.e. the art of channeling your emotions in a more positive way to get a better control and understanding of your emotions. Nailing your Emotional Quotient (EQ) in your professional and personal settings goes a long way in relieving your stress and making you more understanding and empathetic. So, don’t hold grudges, do not fight over text, and certainly don’t make a promise when elated. As cold or ‘heartless’ it might sound, but:?

Coming to the Energy, it basically symbolizes your state of mind. This is who you truly are and how you carry yourself. Good energy = Sound mental health. But it’s how you get that energy is what the question is; the key is the 3 Fs; Food, Fitness, and Friends. So, choose wisely!
Next up is Efficacy. Imagine playing a video game where you're always losing vs one that you’re nailing every time. What will you pursue longer? The latter of course! Build your skills, never stop learning, and take every step possible to get the right results.
Communication is the backbone of all the activities we do personally and professionally. Your vocabulary or accent won’t be of any use if you don’t know what and how to convey. Communication is a weapon; it ultimately shapes your personal-social environment. It also tells you when not to speak as much as when to/how much to. This very piece of text is also a communication that wants to convey the best ways to introspect your mental health.?
Finally, what you also need for sound mental health is the art of properly using your breaks. Putting this time to good use includes planning your week ahead, detoxing and getting the needed rest to go into the next week. In simple words, Conserving your energy is the key!
These insights are definitely not Gospel, but a great starting point to our journey in finding ourselves.
