A Note From @TOSBoss

Good morning!? ?Welcome to September.? As I write this there's a drizzle of rain and it feels like Fall is on its way.? I'm ready for sweater weather. How about you??

?As I mentioned last week, for the next 50 Sundays, I'll use ChatGPT to expand on 50 lessons learned.? We're on #2 - "We are all just grown-up kids carrying the baggage of our upbringing - learn to recognize the load carried and overcome the weight of your youth."

In my case, instead of a suitcase, it was a little red wagon.? If you've ever served in the military and attended boot camp, you know it's a defining moment in your life.? My TI (drill instructor if you're Army) taught me not only basic military skills - how to make my bed, and fold my undies into little squares - but how to let go of what I no longer needed.? He described it as a little red wagon that I was pulling behind me, full of things I'd collected along the way that were really heavy.? He told me to empty the wagon of the old stuff and start collecting new things.? It sounded easy enough and I've pulled a lighter wagon ever since.??

?Take a moment and check around you.? Are you pulling a wagon with items that no longer serve the future you're building?? Empty that thing and start fresh. It can change your life.?

?I hope you find value in my message.? ?

Learn to Recognize the Load You're Carrying

Greetings, fellow adventurers on the entrepreneurial journey!

In the grand tapestry of life, we often find ourselves lugging around the suitcases of our past – the echoes of our upbringing that have shaped who we are today. It's no secret that as leaders, entrepreneurs, and small business owners, these experiences can either anchor us down or propel us forward. The key is to learn how to recognize the load we're carrying and to rise above the weight of our youth.

Imagine, if you will, embarking on a hike up a steep mountain. Along the way, you come across boulders of self-doubt, rivers of fear, and forests of limiting beliefs – all remnants of your formative years. To conquer this terrain, it's crucial to identify and acknowledge these emotional artifacts. Maybe you were conditioned to fear failure or were raised in an environment that discouraged risk-taking. By recognizing these influences, you pave the way to navigate challenges with newfound clarity.

Unburdening ourselves from the baggage of our youth doesn't mean severing ties with our past. Rather, it's about selective packing – choosing to carry forward the lessons that empower us and shedding the doubts that hold us back. As leaders, embracing vulnerability and seeking mentorship can aid in unpacking and repacking our emotional luggage. Remember, the summit of success is reached by those who dare to lighten their loads and march ahead unencumbered by the shadows of yesterday.

In the bustling realm of small business ownership, as you forge ahead with your visions and dreams, spare a moment to examine the baggage you're hauling. Let's set our compass towards self-discovery, learn to let go of what no longer serves us, and ascend to the peak of our potential. The journey to becoming an empowered leader starts with acknowledging our past and using it as a stepping stone towards a brighter, unburdened future. Onward and upward we go!
