A Note From Lis Green
Both venture capital and tech have longstanding challenges with inadequate representation. This is reflected in the low number of women and people of color investors, founders, and decision-makers in both spaces. With a lack of representation in decision-making seats, we inevitably see this reflected in an inequitable distribution of capital. To address this, we need to create access and exposure to our industry where it may not otherwise be present.?
The Sorenson Impact Institute's student program does this, providing students from all backgrounds with training in the full scope of investment processes. The Impact Investing team recently welcomed a new cohort of students to our apprenticeship program?where they will receive direct experience in venture capital and impact investing (learn more below!). Through this program, we plan to prepare a diverse cohort of thoughtful investors for internships and employment on the other side of the program and equip future decision-makers who better represent the whole of our society to change the landscape of our industry for good.
