A Note about Dick Enberg

I wanted to post note about broadcast legend Dick Enberg a couple weeks after his passing. I’ve had a chance to look at my files and wanted to share how generous an individual he was. Though he didn’t attend Washington State University, he felt a strong connection to the region. 

I met him at a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) convention one summer many years ago and said I worked at WSU. 

He immediately recalled how he loved seeing the beautiful scenery of the Palouse, specifically its rolling hills, during bus trips to Pullman when he called UCLA basketball.

I asked if I could use that quote for a women's basketball media guide I would be developing and he said he would be happy to help. Weeks later, I wrote a quote up and faxed it to him for approval. 

Minutes later he faxed it back with some revisions and the note saying “Hope this helps. Cheers.” 

Class act. He will be missed.
