A Note on Being a Human Being

I was reflecting a bit on my life this morning and realized how much of my focus has been on "going fast."

  • I wanted to be the fastest football player on the field.
  • I wanted to have the fastest car.
  • I wanted to be the fastest salesman and store manager to break the million dollar mark.
  • I wanted to be the fastest triathlete and competitive runner.
  • I wanted to be the fastest to get married.

I realized this morning as I sat in silence essentially doing nothing, that "being the fastest" doesn't result in any grand prize at the end of my life.

My body, when I choose to listen to it, is telling me to slow down, as is my Inner Spirit.

I'm hearing the message, "Just be."

After all, I am a human being, so I can deduce that I'm supposed to "be" more than "do" or "have."

I'm going to be like the butterfly who flits and flutters, and sometimes just sits. The butterfly flies to it's own beat and rhythm.

Today my goal today is to flit and flutter to my own unique rhythm and rhyme.

Less hurry and less worry.
