Nose Loader vs. Side Loader
Gates Aero https://gatesaero.jimdo.com/
Ever wonder whether or not your big freight fits in an airplane? The first question is "will it fit," the second question is "what are the dimensions?"
Pictured above, the nose loader version of the B-747 Freighter is more restrictive on height than the side loader. Longer pieces go in the nose loader, taller pieces go in the side loader. The difference is only a few inches height wise but significant length wise. The combination of all three dimensions (length, width and height) are important if the freight has to "turn the corner" of a side loader.
Weight is a factor however it is rare to have air cargo that exceeds the main deck cargo floor load bearing limitations.
I will be in Sacramento, California from October 1st through October 14th and look forward to discussing these and other technical questions about air cargo.
