Northwest Women’s Leadership Academy (NWWLA)
SGR’s 10 in 10 Note – July 10, 2024
Our guest commentator this week is JJ Peters. She joined SGR in 2021 as President of Executive Recruitment and considers it a privilege to be part of the SGR team helping local governments recruit, assess, and develop the innovative, collaborative and authentic leaders each community needs and deserves.?
At SGR we work with communities across the country whether it’s conducting a workshop, an executive search, or as subject matter experts at seminars and conferences. So, we get to see some dedicated organizations doing impressive work in the local government arena.?
One of these organizations is the Northwest Women’s Leadership Academy (NWWLA). I was with them in June speaking about “Advancing Your Career,” along with Kylie Bayer, HR Director for the Tualatin Valley Water District. Our presentation was scheduled for graduation day for the NWWLA’s latest cohort, so I was fortunate that I got to see these latest graduates of the program celebrate a remarkable point in their careers.
From This Week's 10 in 10
Are you playing the talent game? Retaining agile employees ready for whatever challenges are served up can mean big wins for your organization—and making the call to put people first can put you ahead while courting new talent. It’s not enough just to ace the hiring game; you need to coach your current workers well to give you the advantage.
What have I got and what do I need to take my business to the next level?? I’ll guarantee part of the answer is about your people and culture.
Change is a deeply human phenomenon, activating deeply human responses that don’t always help to advance?organizational goals relative to change.?But given today’s business environment—in which it seems that constant and escalating change is the fuel behind much progress and results—leaders must quickly master their ability to understand and constructively?respond to the range of responses that could inhibit success.
