Northern Lights, Pull-Ups and Getting Connected
If you can dream it, you can do it...

Continuing from last month's post on New Month Resolutions, I am setting myself new challenges every month for 2015. I am doing it because I think it's important to continuously push yourself beyond your comfort zone because that's where life really begins (or so they say!). It's not easy, but it's going to be totally worth it.
For January I planned a trip to Norway - somewhere that I have wanted to visit for a long long time. It was exciting to make the decision to go - sometimes, if you're like me, you talk about these things and dream about them, without actually doing anything constructive about achieving them. So 2015, is the year to stop procrastinating and just try it - it doesn't matter whether it's in your business or personal life, now is the time to just do it!
Some elements of the trip to Norway were within my control - for instance, I wanted to go dog sledding and whale watching. I knew that I could book these tours with a good deal of certainty that I would be able to complete them. Other things like seeing the Northern Lights were reliant on factors outside of my control.
However, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail so I did everything I could to ensure that I had the opportunity to see them. I was lucky - we did see them. There's something majestic about seeing those lights unfold before your eyes. You have absolutely no control over them. You blink and they might disappear. Or they will dance uninhibited across the sky, unconcerned with the clouds or the moon or other factors that may interfere with their appearance. And often the camera picked them up even when the eye couldn't. You trust that they are there and take a picture and just like magic they appear on your camera.
Life's like that sometimes, you have to trust in things - make your preparations so that you are in the right place at the right time, ensure you've the right equipment and skills to meet the challenge in front of you and just go with it!
February's Goal - In February I want to conquer the pull up. It's a tough fitness challenge - I did manage to do a partial one in the gym today so I can't wait to rise to the challenge! I'd love to be able to do 10 by the end of the month, but we'll see how we get on!
I also want to concentrate on my career - I'm job hunting at the moment (so if you know a company who is looking for a new employee, feel free to share it with me!). I'm also aiming to start catching up with all of my LinkedIn connections with a quick email to say hello. Having lots of connections is fine - as long as you make the effort to actually connect with them :)
Happy February everyone - feel free to share your new challenges in the comments below! And I hope these articles motivate you to go after your goals...
