North Texas Giving Day

Today is the day, the day when all of the non-profits ask you to consider giving to their organization to help them further their mission. Even for someone who serves on multiple boards the emails can be overwhelming. How do you decide who you want to support and how to get the most bang for your contribution?

Here are some things to think about when considering the organization you support:

• Do you believe in the organizations mission?
• Does it align with what you are trying to impact in the community you live in?
• Do you know and can you trust the Board that manages the fund allocation?
• Is there evidence of the impact the organization has made?

For Inspired to Help, I can share that we are a non-profit that has no overhead. All of the funds we raise go back into the community in some way. Here are some details on our impact. We have multiple programs we support annually:

Senior Citizens: Partnering with Network of Community Ministries Senior Program, City of Garland Senior Program, and City of Dallas Senior Programs. We partner by supporting breakfast quarterly for Network, engaging in programs for the Cities by collaborating and planning an annual Senior Health Fair, Valentines Programs, MLK day celebration, and little things like bingo prizes and snow cone days.

Unhoused Population: We collect, sort and distribute seasonal items in addition to approx. 75 backpacks we purchase annually, we pass out brown bag lunches and we collaborate with the city to align with the measures they outline for distributing items to the population.

Scholarships: Each year we grant scholarships to those who are in need and have shown that they overcome obstacles to advance their education by college courses or technical schools. Since inception in 2022 we have awarded over $22,000 to applicants to help them continue their educational goals.

We also help those who are in need that reach out for assistance with electric bills, Christmas gifts for their children, home and landscape assistance, etc.
