When You're Trying to Find Your Own True North
In a world that feels as unpredictable as the shifting magnetic poles, discovering your personal “true North” can be quite the adventure. Who better to “Expotition” with than Christopher Robin, Pooh and friends in Winnie-the-Pooh, embarking on a delightful “Expotition” to try to find the North Pole, we often find ourselves navigating through life's uncertainties, searching for direction amidst the chaos.??
Christopher Robin’s expedition was a charming blend of curiosity and camaraderie. As they set off, each character brought their own quirks and perspectives, reminding us that every journey is enriched by those we share it with. Pooh, with his innocent questions and love for honey, a simple quest might lead to profound discoveries—if we are open to it, that is, even if the goalposts keep shifting, much like the North Pole.??
Navigating the Shift: Lessons from the Magnetic North Pole
The magnetic North Pole has been drifting towards Siberia, with significant updates recorded in January 2025. This movement has accelerated over the past century, causing potential GPS errors and miscalculations in navigation systems worldwide.?
Cruise ships and navigation systems are updated regularly to adapt to the shifting magnetic north pole, so there is no fear that a cruise to nowhere will go somewhere. Unlike those tourists that travel to Austria instead of Australia, you will arrive at your destination or at least a destination.
If our internal compass—our sense of purpose—remains unsteady, we risk losing our way as quickly.

Knowing which direction we want to go in is as important as knowing where that direction will lead, who we are taking with us, at what cost and if it will benefit the world around us.? Are our travels merely a checklist of destinations, or can they become transformative experiences that resonate with your core values?
The Travel Matrix
This brings us to a framework I created and called The Travel Matrix. This concept intertwines exploration with meaning, prompting us to reflect on the components of travel and how we can work on our own personal development and set attainable goals, all while learning how to get organised and, most importantly, to benefit those around us during the process.? Think of it as a way to blend adventure with introspection while ensuring there is a world to explore in years to come.
Consider your next trip, no matter where that may be.? Could it be more than “Just” a Trip? Perhaps it’s an opportunity to reflect on how travel has always sparked your creativity and left you longing for something you have always wanted to do with your life.
There’s nothing quite like facing fear head-on by cruising through untamed and uncharted waters to unlock a fresh perspective.? So, where are we off to next???
Finding something is never easy, but it sure does make life fun. Who has more fun than Christopher Robin, Pooh, and all his friends?? Like my love for travel and now writing, I find myself a little closer to Pooh as he also has a passion for something other than adventures; why, Honey, of course!? There's nothing like a bit of sweetness to seal a deal.
