North Northamptonshire Council celebrating after awards success for Culture, Tourism and Heritage Service

Teams across North Northamptonshire Council’s Culture, Tourism and Heritage Service are celebrating after recent awards success.

The service covers a wide range of areas including The Chester House Estate, Corby Heritage Centre, The Cornerstone, Discover Northamptonshire, Northamptonshire ARC and the North Northamptonshire Greenway project.

Following a successful year, teams have recently scooped a range of local and nationally recognised awards.

• The Northamptonshire Archaeological Resource Centre (ARC), a state-of-the-art archaeological facility, was awarded a national Archaeological Achievement Award by the Council for British Archaeology for the Irchester Field School, a collaborative community research and learning project in partnership with the University of Leicester. In summer 2024, more than 10,000 people attended collaborative programmes and events focused on the archaeology of the small Roman town of Irchester and the Nene Valley.
• The Chester House Estate which only opened to the public in October 2021 scooped Small Business of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Awards.?
• Discover Northamptonshire Hub, based at Rushden Lakes, which is working with partners across the tourism sector to boost the profile and visitor economy of the county, scooped the Innovation in Business Award at the Wellingborough and East Northants Chamber Awards.?
• Head of Service for Culture, Tourism and Heritage - Jack Pishhorn was awarded Business Person of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Awards.

The service focusses on highlighting the unique cultural treasures within North Northamptonshire, whilst working to preserve these amazing assets for future generations and this is the perfect end to what has been a wonderful and very busy year for the team and the dedicated volunteers who work with us. It is fantastic that these facilities, the teams, volunteers and our Head of Service are being recognised at both local and national levels.
