2 April:?Market Study:?Business Opportunities in Circular Economy and Energy Efficiency in Singapore
Nordic Innovation House (NIH) in Singapore has identified the Circular Economy and Clean Technology sectors as interesting for Nordic companies to further explore for sales growth. Through this market study, NIH and the Nordic Trade Promotion Offices aims to further explore the sectors in Singapore and identify business opportunities in Singapore for Nordic companies, while raising the awareness of the Singapore business climate for Nordic companies.

June 5: Nordic Talks: "Are we wasting value?"
To answer this question, we invited experts from Ramboll, Johnsen Chemicals and Environmental Solutions Asia to discuss sustainability performance when assessing the Nordics and Singapore's approach towards (1) “mid-stream” waste optimisation and (2) upstream resource management and (3) downstream innovation and investment in circular models.

24 October: 2023 Showcase of Nordic solutions in sustainable & energy efficient solutions
Aligned with the Nordic region's ambition to emerge as the world's most sustainable and integrated region by 2030, we hosted an event on 24th October to exhibit Nordic sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for the built environment.

24 October: Nordic Talks 2023: "How to achieve a Sustainable Built Environment"? Panel Discussion
We organized a panel discussion on the challenges impeding our swift progress towards a sustainable built environment. The discussions encompassed various themes, such as the potential of rich data in assisting companies to achieve their sustainability objectives, refurbishment in existing buildings and guidance for startups in the climate tech sector, among other topics.

23 - 27 October:?Nordic Delegation to Singapore in Energy Efficiency
During 23 - 27 October, a delegation from Finland and Sweden visited to learn more about Singapore’s innovation ecosystem, business landscape and market opportunities in the area of built environment. The delegation programme focused on gaining insights and building connections within the space of sustainable development (e.g. Greener Infrastructure & Buildings, Sustainable Towns & Districts). ?

20 - 23 November: Nordic Showcase during the ASEAN-Norway delegation programme
From 20 - 23 November, Innovation Norway and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed approximately 20 delegates from diverse ASEAN ministries, specifically part of the Chemical and Waste as well as Smart Cities working groups. The purpose of their visit was to gain insights into Singapore's Circular Economy, Waste Management, and Urban Planning endeavors. Throughout the program, Nordic enterprises specializing in circular economy and waste management seized the opportunity to introduce their companies and solutions to the visiting delegates.?

Although Singapore has never been an agricultural nation, the government strives to address food security concerns in 2021 by ramping up local produce through innovative means.
Singapore set a 30 percent target to meet Singapore’s nutritional needs while buffering any food supply disruptions by 2030* through urban farming and argri-tech (Asia Pacific Food Industry ).
Singapore plans new initiatives to foster energy sustainability, enhancing efficiency, and diminishing its carbon footprint.
Recently unveiled at SIEW, a novel initiative aimed at enhancing consumer control over electricity usage and conservation will be rolled out in the latter half of 2024. Collaboratively developed by EMA and the SP Group (SP), the Residential Demand Response (R-DR) program will cater to consumers—both residential and non-residential—who possess smart meters. This program incentivizes reducing electricity consumption during peak hours, offering rewards as an incentive (Energy Market Authority ).
Singapore is adopting biofuels and bioresources to hit net-zero emissions target.
To reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050, there is a need for these types of resources, especially for carbon-intensive sectors such as electricity generation, transport and heavy industry.
Singapore has made notable progress in this field, with over 70,000 tonnes of biofuels being provided to ocean-going vessels by the end of 2022. Additionally, Singapore Airlines has adopted sustainable aviation fuel, which is a blend of used cooking oil and animal fats, for all of its flights (Straits Times ).

The Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) 2023, organised by Enterprise Singapore is now accepting early submissions!?
SOIC seeks visionary minds and innovators with solutions to wide-ranging challenge statements aimed at addressing sustainability goals, contributed by industry-leading corporate partners under four themes: Climate Change, Green Buildings, Sustainable Agriculture and Trade, and Sustainable Materials.?
Successful companies will be exposed to mentorship, potential grant support, and paid pilot opportunities amounting to a pool of S$3 million!?

Medtech Innovator Asia Pacific Program 2024
MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific applications for 2024 are OPEN! They are the largest life science accelerator in the world, and their programs are now open for applications through January 31, 2024.
MedTech Innovator is the largest accelerator of medical devices in the world and the medical technology industry’s global showcase and accelerator for innovative medical device, digital health, and diagnostic companies. Their mission is to improve the lives of patients by accelerating the growth of companies that are transforming the healthcare system. Accelerator companies compete for up to US$ 300K in cash and awards.?
What they are looking for: They’re looking for outstanding early to mid-stage companies developing medical device, diagnostic, and digital health companies to improve human health. Companies selected for MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific programs will receive high-profile visibility; access to investors, stakeholders, and decision-makers; a network of mentors and peers; and participation in a customized educational curriculum.
