AI is taking over! Thankfully, just in a thematic sense, not replacing us writers... yet. This digest has a whole lot of AI themes — first, we look into?AI assistants for API developers and review Ruben Sitbon 's talk on boosting products with gen AI.?

Also, this digest features some great contributions from the API community: Steve Rodda from Ambassador explores how the API economy is changing?in 2024, and Tom Akehurst from WireMock introduces?us to prototype-first API design.?Plus, I interviewed Josh Twist from Zuplo on the benefits of more programmable API gateways.

And back to the AI side of things, Darshan Khandelwal also shared how SERP APIs can be used to train ML models. Plus, we reviewed over ten APIs for optical character recognition, models that can decode text from unstructured data.

Lastly, could it be that the PetStore API has been replaced as the canonical API OpenAPI example? j simpson compared it with two new options:?Train Travel API and?Museum API.
