Non-Traditional Healthcare Commerce
There are smart, affordable healthcare options available, but they sometimes get stomped out by big business to make big bucks. We can do healthcare better.
That’s why I’m excited to be attending the Becker’s Healthcare, 14th Annual Meeting , taking place April 8-11 in Chicago. I’m looking forward to what comes out of these two sessions in particular: “Amazon, Google and Walmart: What is their Next Healthcare Play?”?And “How Non-traditional Partnerships Between Health Systems and Retail Are Shaping Healthcare.”
As Amazon, Walmart and other non-traditional businesses become more engaged in the healthcare industry, we’re going to start seeing a real supply and demand principle influence the healthcare economy. With tech solutions at our fingertips, consumers are becoming more empowered with their healthcare decisions and will demand more affordable and efficient solutions.
Deloitte Insights released an article in October 2022 concluding that “nontraditional sites can enable more convenient, accessible, and equitable care.” People are ready for preventative and maintenance healthcare to work more conveniently.
Speaking of convenience, the “hospital-at-home” model is becoming increasingly popular according to Harvard Business Review (HBR). HBR reports an uptick in home-based chronic disease management (to prevent complications that require hospitalization) and “hospital at home” services (higher-level care in the home for patients who in the past would have needed hospitalization).
?77 percent of those ages 50 plus said they want to remain in their homes for the long term.
According to Deloitte, “patients reported having less anxiety and more control and had an easier time visiting with family and friends and getting physical activity.” Patients who recovered in home reported an average of 1,800 steps compared to only 160 steps for those who recovered in-hospital. Those at home spent 18% of the day lying down, compared to 55% in the control group.
?Tech solutions for recovery at home options reduce hospital expenses, lighten work burdens for medical teams, and lower hospital readmissions.
HBR notes, “supporting such care involves more than a laptop and an internet connection; it requires a series of devices to help providers monitor patients and enable patients to monitor themselves.” HBR continues, “efficiently equipping patients’ homes with such devices is a capability that most health systems lack. Partnerships with retailers could fill this gap.”

That’s where we come in.
We are happy to partner with 亚马逊 and 沃尔玛 in their role as a nontraditional site for healthcare. These companies are providing the pathways for new tools such as Nomo Smart Care (Nomo) at appropriate prices and available to anyone.
We’ll be debuting Nomo Smart Care (Nomo) at booth #553, sharing how it empowers consumers to be in control of their care and equips medical institutions with the perfect tool to alleviate workforce burnout and improve workload efficiencies.
Nomo Smart Care provides valuable insight into daily patient activity and health information by enabling caregivers to remotely monitor normal motion in a patient’s home assuring ongoing activity and providing alerts when expected activities do not occur.??
#Nomo provides real-time data without cameras. This means hospitals can use Nomo for #RPM (remote patient monitoring) to provide care and respond to emergencies more quickly.
?Not only can Nomo help combat physician and nurse burnout, research indicates improved consumer satisfaction and overall wellness as well. According to Deloitte, since 2018, seniors and Boomers have increased their use of virtual health visits by 36 percent, collectively. Claiming the desire to visit with friends and family and convenience as the primary driving forces for this decision.
The Nomo debut marks a significant milestone in enhancing care for those aging at home, offering peace of mind and improved outcomes. As nontraditional sites offer better healthcare opportunities, I’m excited to engage in these conversations @Becker’sHealthcare Conference and learn what’s next in improving healthcare for everyone. Don’t forget to stop by Booth #553.
