Non-Profits from 35,000 Feet
A big thanks to our consulting team at CCT Boston who, for the past 5 months, has provided our non-profit, Haiti Projects, with strategic guidance for the next 5-10 years. For those of you who don't know Community Consulting Teams (CCT), they provide pro-bono management consulting delivered by teams of experienced MBAs from top-tier business schools. Last night, 9 non-profits from the Boston area shared the results of their CCT engagements at the Boston Non-Profit Center. A big theme that came through all the presentations is that non-profits like Haiti Projects are so busy delivering services (in our case: jobs, education, and family services to women and their families in southern Haiti), that we rarely have time to pause and evaluate what we're doing from a broader perspective. CCT and their team of MBAs helped us do just that -- an exercise that helped us get out of scramble mode and develop a plan that will help us scale our services, and ideally make us more sustainable. I left the evening deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented people, and humbled by the amazing work of the other non-profits who presented. For MBAs out there interested in contributing your talent to worthy causes, and for non-profits in need of the perspective from 35,000 feet, I highly recommend you check one of the many CCT organizations around the country.
