Public Service Announcement:
Supporting a non-profit organization that exploits people by playing on the smokes and mirrors misconception that all non-profits are good and all for profits are bad are ethically problematic and undermines the core principles of non-profit work.?
Such organizations manipulates public perception by leveraging its non-profit status to appear altruistic, while in reality prioritizing personal enrichment over genuine community benefit. This misalignment between their stated mission and actual practices erodes trust, diverts resources away from meaningful support for who they claim to serve, and perpetuates inequality by prioritizing the financial interests of a few individuals over the broader societal good.?
Consequently, endorsing or supporting such an organization enables these unethical practices and detracts from the efforts of truly mission-driven non-profits that genuinely work to improve lives and foster positive social change.
Here’s what I’ve been told how to best vet a non-profit. [Clearly set out to do your own investigations. State and the federal government resources help too].
