??Non-boring ideas for a workshop on Situational Leadership
????♀?We know that good leadership is key to making your organisation thrive, right? But how do you train your leaders to be flexible and adapt to their team members' needs during your Leadership Development Program?
??Enter?Situational Leadership?- a cool approach that helps leaders adjust their behavior to fit their team members' readiness and competence in a given situation. It's like having a leadership chameleon!
It is an easy-to-grasp concept and leaders really like it because it helps them understand different leadership styles. But if you don’t want to just give the info and let it fly away - you really want the concept to stick!
??So here is a?non-boring activity:
Participants spread out randomly around the room and without talking, they pick two other people in the room (the participants can put their arms out and point at the two people they’re trying to triangulate on).
??The goal for each person is to now form an equilateral triangle between themselves and the two people they have chosen. The facilitator then says go and starts the stopwatch. Once the room has stopped moving the facilitator announces how long the task took (it takes about 1-2 minutes).
Here are a couple of discussion prompts to bring the focus on the concept of situational leadership during the?debrief:
??What are your thoughts having seen how quick that was to do?
??How long would the same task have taken if I’d made one person responsible for putting you all in triangles?
That’s how we create the space for leaders to feel and embody how it feels when teams can successfully collaborate when solving complicated tasks without the need for stringent rules or micromanaging.

5 个月I love a good L&D theoretical concept converted to application. I can totally confirm how effective situational leadership is. The activity you’ve mentioned helps employees take ownership & accountability, improving their performance readiness. It’s also a great way to identify & groom potential leaders. Lena Nasiakou ??
