Non-anthropomorphic God and Corona virus

Images of deserted streets, public parking lots, all over the world with a deadly serious invisible but almost omnipresent virus in my mind reinforces all-things compose an all-encompassing, transcendent god. It reminds me of transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson,

“And all the things and the weather must be taken in together.

To make up a year and a sphere”.

As I read Dr. Jeffrey Shaman’s analyses, the invisible Corona virus reminds me repeatedly about the concept of all-encompassing transcendent god and that not to overstep the boundary of nature.

I hope many folks will pay close attention to analyses and recommendations of Dr. Jeffrey Shaman. They should also pay attention to 2007 ominous predictions of Hong Kong based microbiologist Dr. Yuen Kwok-yung.  

Dr. Kwok-yung in 2007 wrote that habit of eating exotic mammals in Southern China along with the presence of large reservoirs of Corona virus like viruses in horseshoe bats are “time bomb”. He urged in 2007 to do the needful to stop the virus spread.

Of course the policy leaders either ignored this were completely ignorant of this prediction and recommendations. He was of course not the single biologist.

Beyond that, perhaps it is time for the political leaders to believe in all-encompassing, transcendent god in setting boundaries for Mother Nature. I hope that paying attention to conclusions from serious scientific research will be taken as a whole more seriously.

·      What we now know, from real world experimental evidence that locking down in January would have given a different outcome to Italy.

·      What we know is that we paid a heavy price for being late to take action.

·      What our policy planners need to do now is to put action to preserve climate before it becomes too late and a heavier price.

·      Corona virus spread shows to pay attention to serious science and take early actions.

As a scientist, I will want to tell all political leaders, borrowing the lines from transcendentalist Emerson:

“And I think it no disgrace To occupy my place.

If I'm not so large as you, You are not so small as I,”

Listen to the serious scientists and pay heed to their advice. As a Spanish biological woman scientist has correctly said we do not get a million dollar a year but we do our work seriously and diligently. In comparison to many of you, we do the million-dollar work at a steep discount. Allow us to occupy our place in your policymaking and action taking when we so recommend. If not for anything for the fear of all-encompassing transcending God. To our politicians: Corona virus presented you stark evidence, what more would you want?
