Nominations for the Game Awards 2023 are dominated by Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3

The Game Awards 2023 nominations have been unveiled, and Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 lead the pack with eight nominations each. Both titles are contenders for Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Performance, and Best Score and Music.

Alan Wake 2 secured additional nominationsin the Best Art Direction, Best Audio Design, and Best Action/Adventure Game categories. Meanwhile, Baldur's Gate 3 received nominations for Best RPG, Best Community Support, and Best Multiplayer.

Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games closely follows with seven nominations, trailed by Super Mario Bros Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, each boasting six nominations. Resident Evil 4, also in contention for Game of the Year, holds four nominations.

Notably, the Best Adaptation category for film and television introduced last year features HBO's The Last of Us, Illumination's Super Mario Bros Movie, Netflix's Castlevania: Nocturne, and Peacock's Twisted Metal.

In the Best Performance category, standout nominees include Ben Starr for Final Fantasy 16, Cameron Monaghan for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Idris Elba for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Melanie Liburd for Alan Wake 2, Neil Newbon for Baldur's Gate 3, and Yuri Lowenthal for Spider-Man 2.

With 112 games in the running, Nintendo leads as the most nominated publisher with 15 nominations, followed by Sony with 13, Xbox (including Bethesda and Blizzard) with ten, and Epic Games with nine.

The eagerly anticipated event is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Last year's Game Awards celebrated God of War Ragnar?k's success with six awards, while Elden Ring secured four, including the coveted Game of the Year.
