Organizational reshaping and the development of new capabilities are necessary for CEOs to succeed in the globalised economy.

The Global Emerging Leaders Awards are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to their fields of endeavour and society as a whole. Awards are based on the quality of the applicant's work, as well as the scope of their impact on the community or the country. Honorees are selected by a committee of experts who volunteer their time.

Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade believes in fostering leadership across different level Recently, we have been reflecting on the significance of perspective in our role as leaders. Spending time thinking about this forced us to ask ourselves new questions.

Perspective provides us with new points of view, new understandings, and possibly new ideas.

When we advance from being an individual contributor to a leader, our perspective shifts in some minor ways – we gain access to new information, have conversations with new people, and think about things in ways we didn't have to before.

In those fundamental ways, a shift in perspective is visible and generally noticed by new leaders. While it is just the tip of the iceberg, even these perspectives are often forgotten or ignored as time goes forward. The most self-aware leaders recognize that one of the most valuable assets they bring to their role is perspective. Whether they would describe it that way or not, the best leaders all use the power of perspective to be more effective and successful.

Three facts about leadership and perspective.

We all have it: Once in a leadership role, we have access to additional perspectives on the happenings and decisions in our organizations. These new perspectives help us do our jobs better, understand the organization better, and help others understand better.

We all must use it: Perspective benefits us in so many ways. We must recognize different points of view and apply them to our work. We know what our leadership sees, we can see what our team sees, and we can ask Customers (internal or external) for their perspective – and the more information and perspectives we have, the more effective we can be.

We must actively expand it: The more perspectives we gather, the more fully we see a situation, the better decisions we can make, and the actions we can take.?

How Perspective Can Help Us:?Several things happen when we gain new perspectives that differ from our own or our initial one, including:

  • We have a better understanding of complex issues.
  • We recognize that there is more than one right answer or option to consider.
  • We correctly see the complexity that we may not have noticed at first.
  • We may be able to see connections and even simple solutions that were previously invisible to us.
  • We now have alternatives to consider.
  • Because of this, we will make better decisions and likely communicate the ones we make more effectively.
  • We will develop stronger relationships with others as they realize we are empathetic and have considered the situation in a variety of ways.
