Noel Cunnigham From Harvey's Point Offers His Wisdom

Noel Cunningham, Harvey's Point's hotel ambassador, who previously worked for several years as the hotel's general manager, talks exclusively to Hospitality Ireland.

The proud Donegal man is legendary not only in Harvey's Point but also in the broader hospitality industry for his gregarious personality, hard work ethic and ceaseless energy.

Robert McHugh interviewed Noel about the importance of training in the industry, work life balance, and how a good executive house keeper is vital in the hotel business.

Open Kitchen Week 2023

Chef Network has invited aspiring kitchen professionals to go ‘behind the pass’ in kitchens nationwide from November 6 -12 for Open Kitchen Week 2023.

Restaurants from across Ireland and Northern Ireland will offer guest slots in kitchens throughout the week.

There are over 300 guest slots available in 50 restaurants, cafes, bakeries and hotels across 14 counties, each signing up to offer opportunities to aspiring chefs, bakers, patisseries, and chocolatiers.

Irish Craft Beer

A new report has found that the consumption of Irish craft beer has risen by 13.5%, since 2017.

The Craft Beer and Cider Report was completed by Bernard Feeney on behalf of Bord Bia in collaboration with Drinks Ireland and the Independent Craft Brewers of Ireland (ICBI).

The report shows that the export market performance has almost doubled since 2017.

Worldskills Ireland 2023

Worldskills Ireland 2023 is returning to the RDS in Dublin this year from 20-22 September.

The program is designed to showcase the wealth of apprenticeships and career opportunities for young people, during a time when a number of sectors are reporting significant skills shortages.

Worldskills Ireland 2023 is set to highlight opportunities in six main sectors including Hospitality and Foodservice.

Irish Drinks Open Forum

Ireland’s spirits and drinks industry will join together for the first ever Irish Drinks Open Forum event in Athenry, Galway on Thursday September 14, 2023.

The event will be organised by the BIA Innovator Campus and supported by the Department of Agriculture, and will see delegates, along with 17 speakers, from Ireland’s spirits and whiskey trade, suppliers and industry gather for one day of knowledge, thought sharing, debate and networking.

It aims to serve as a platform for Ireland’s fast growing spirits and whiskey sector, agri-producers, and start-ups to come together and exchange ideas and experiences.

The Merrion Hotel In Dublin

The Merrion Hotel in Dublin has signed a new 21-month Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with energy supplier Flogas Enterprise.

Flogas Enterprise is the division of Flogas that works with industrial and commercial customers and renewable energy producers.

The Merrion said this new CPPA will ensure that the hotel is powered by 100% renewable electricity harnessed from wind energy.
