Nobu, Stay in Your Lane Bro

Nobu, Stay in Your Lane Bro

Maybe I didn't think it through when including Nobu in a business case study in my last newsletter. The return fire and feedback were almost as rapid as when I wrote about Waffle House for the New York Times. A lot of high fives?on Waffle House. Not so much on Nobu. See comments below and at the end of this Oxford Review.?
" I think many of us disagree because we feel Atlanta has reached a critical dining mass to support the food sophistication of a Nobu and move on from the country and southern culture." Zach Z.??
"I have eaten at the Oak at the Avalon and I agree that the food is worth the cost. GOOD Article. Have a blessed day." -Jerry V.
"I agreed with all of your comments--- except for the food. I think it is very good." - Joel B.

The Oxford Report

(abbrv.)

If you've got $500 to blow,?go to Nobu Atlanta and get to really know my favorite phrase: Stay in Your Lane, Bro-?first five words in Know Grow Exit1.?

Nobu, a brilliant bouchée2 brand,?breaks the bank in cities like Manilla, Miami and Malibu- now jumping lanes to a city like us, outside of Rays not exactly known for a room with a view and mostly a dining crowd of rappers, uptown rednecks and an airport that keeps bringing in the sheaves.

Right off the bat Nobu lost two. Rappers, Rednecks and for that matter throw in the Russians, all who have the same food degree: PHD. Piled high and deep above the brim and edges. Heaping.

Nobu- specifically small sushi portions are cool in cities like Malibu with the minds of paying $300 taste better than $100.?

I represent the other side of the table - don’t mind paying for it but don’t let me leave hungry. When outsiders ask me to help open a new Atlanta office, their first assignment is to eat at Oak Steakhouse on a Friday night in Avalon, ran by Steve Palmer/Indigo Road Group- who knows the Atlantan's wants and wallets better than anyone.?

Run up the tab on appetizers, spend enough money to buy land in Miami on the wine, mood lighting and threshold pricing on the entrees for our lying eyes. Apparently, nobody told Nobu.?

And what happens to Nobu in Atlanta is more than the wrong place and wrong customer. Bad Product.?

Even though all of his places have the same recipes, why does the Atlanta sushi taste no better than what is in the Kroger case on Saturday??

Same reasons why we all crash when we jump into a new lane. It becomes an orphan and we staff it that way- with the B team and throw aways.?

The chef that doesn’t quite fit with the vibe and view- send them to Atlanta. The GM put out to pasture to retire- send them to Atlanta. The lackadaisical nephew of Nobu- send him to Atlanta.?

Second string talent- the "I’m sorry" and half-hearted smiles are all over Nobu Atlanta, but someone is responsible: No, not the waitress who blanked on our drink order but the founder and CEO.?

So how do we and Nobu fix a broken lane??

Solution: Stand up. Admit the why of the mistake. Shut it down immediately and Shut up. Move on.?

Blame no one other than maybe the researchers who missed the ball from the start. We are already covered on overpriced Sushi: MF Sushi. But on some nights you can see all the way to Malibu.?

A New Exercise Routine- Today the big news in Silicon Valley are not the usual two: most money and who’s smartest person in the room. Why??

Of the top 90 publicly traded software companies- 26 are burning cash and one will lose 75% of its value by Labor Day (so big we will mail the report to you).

So, the new big deal is what Zuckerberg was bragging about all week when he completed "the Murph Challenge," which consists of a mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and another mile run- all while wearing a 20-pound vest. He said he had done it in 40 minutes.?

Unless you are in the league of Lee Heisman or Ladell, start with a take of 10% of each exercise. Based on computer science metrics, it is the single best and balanced workout routine for the overall human body. Inspiration: watch the movie and true story Brittney Runs a Marathon.?

This could be a contender for a CliffCo trip in 2024- Billy Joel is movin' out (of Madison Square Garden). Joel announced this week that he will finish a 10-year stay at Madison Square Garden in July 2024.?

The series of more than 100 shows crossed its $200 million threshold in March. James Dolan, the C.E.O of the Garden's parent company, said the run had "made history" for both the venue and the music industry. Give us feedback if you would like to see Billy Joel Lady Show in July 2024.

Updates on other CliffCo trips.

Alaska Trip

- Great news!?Working with our wine distributors and Alaskan resort owners, we have upgraded everyone to the wine dinner package for all CliffCo stays between July 26th-30th.?We appreciate your deposit idea advancement to us in the low season when it is very cold in many ways to say the least!?

There are limited rooms available for Thursday,?7/27 through 7/30 so new clients may need to adjust their trip on the back end, however, all will receive the wine dinner upgrade and?we are working on other upgrades for CliffCo stays before and after said dates above.?

Swamp to sea trip date: October 26-28th, 2023

Update?- we are going to combine this with the same week as GA-FL game and Camden county’s high stakes claim bake- so new date.?When we get back from Alaska, we will put out registration?but you can take these new dates to the bank. We will limit this trip to 25 as we start in the Swamp, followed by St. Mary’s river then see wild horses on Cumberland Island and end into the Sea.?We will have marine biologist and anthropologist on trip.?
