NM450 and HARDOX450 wear-resistant plates both have a hardness rating (average Brinell hardness) of 450HBW, but they differ in terms of origin, performance, chemical composition, and application fields.
Origin and brand: NM450 is a wear-resistant plate with a Chinese standard grade, which is uniformly referred to by steel mills. HARDOX450 (also known as HARDOX 450) is a wear-resistant plate produced by the Swedish SSAB steel company. These two brands represent different manufacturing processes and quality control standards.
Performance characteristics:
NM450 wear-resistant plate has high hardness, high strength, good wear resistance and impact resistance, excellent mechanical properties and welding performance, with a yield strength of 950MPa and a tensile strength of over 1180MPa. The surface hardness of NM450 wear-resistant plate is high, which can effectively resist wear and scratching, extending the service life. When impacted, NM450 can absorb a large amount of energy, reducing the damage to the equipment caused by impact and protecting the normal operation of the equipment. NM450 wear-resistant plate also has fatigue resistance and can maintain stable performance during long-term use.
HARDOX450 wear-resistant plate also has high hardness and strength, with a yield strength generally greater than or equal to 1100MPa and a tensile strength greater than or equal to 1250MPa. HARDOX450 wear-resistant plate has good cold bending and weldability. HARDOX450 also has excellent wear resistance, making it particularly suitable for applications with severe wear. HARDOX450 also has high toughness, which allows it to be used for load-bearing applications in some applications.
Chemical composition:
The chemical composition of NM450 wear-resistant plate mainly includes carbon C: 0.37-1.05%; silicon Si: 0.15-0.50%; manganese Mn: 1.30-2.10%; sulfur S: allowable residual content ≤0.040% and other elements. The content of these elements determines the hardness and wear resistance of NM450. However, the specific chemical composition ratio may vary depending on the manufacturer and specific product.
The chemical composition of HARDOX450 wear-resistant plate mainly includes C (carbon) 0.42-0.50%, Si (silicon) 0.15-0.35%, Mn (manganese) 1.20-1.60%, Cr (chromium) 16.00-18.00%, Mo (molybdenum) 0.80-1.20%, and V (vanadium) 0.25-0.35%. This combination of chemical components gives HARDOX450 excellent wear resistance and hardness.

NM450 wear-resistant plates are widely used in mining, construction, metallurgy, machinery, and other fields, such as ore conveying equipment, ore crushing equipment, screening equipment, bearing structural components, railway wheel structural components, and rollers.
