NM Cannabis Delivery is Here

Cannabis delivery. Weed at your front door in less than an hour! No more leaving the couch to find pants and shoes. Nope, now all that is needed is your phone.

Amazon, DoorDash, GrubHub, UberEats, and many more now offer on-demand food, groceries, alcohol, and anything else you can dream up and want. What's behind the success of these behemoth delivery platforms?

Consider that 9% of Americans order from restaurant apps at least once a week, and 15% do so monthly, according to a 2023 study by Civic Science (U.S. respondents aged 18+ who order from food delivery services weekly and those who rarely/never do so (35,585 responses from 04/10/2023 to 05/10/2023). Gen Z adults, hybrid employees, and Americans who live in cities are the most likely to order food delivery online weekly.

Scott Prisco, CEO and Founder of Priscotty

It was just a matter of time until cannabis on-demand delivery took hold. Scott Prisco saw this opportunity in 2021 and founded Priscotty (https://priscotty.com/) to fill the need in the marketplace. Scott Prisco is an entrepreneur at heart who has long understood that cannabis delivery is such a critical piece of the state's cannabis future, as many shoppers are unable, or are not interested, in physically entering a dispensary.

A recent study, New Mexico Cannabis Demand Modeling, 2022 (released 3/23), suggests that cannabis shoppers seek out dispensaries within 5 to 10 minutes of their domicile. If traffic is an issue, if the residence is further than 5 to 10 minutes away, and (let's face it) if you've had a long day and are exhausted, cannabis delivery is ideal.

Priscotty launched in early February of this year. Prisco, who first came up with the idea in 2021, applied for a license early in 2022. By August 2022, he had received the right to operate and spent a few months building relationships and signing contracts with dispensaries in Albuquerque.

Easy to order, easy to use

Ordering from Priscotty is simple - people need a valid photo ID or passport to sign up for delivery. "We want to be that trusted source in the delivery business," Prisco said. "You know what you're getting when you get Priscotty — you're getting transparency, you're getting professionalism, you know our service will be of the highest quality."

The Priscotty website states that 26 dispensaries are signed up as partners, with all but 3 located in metro Albuquerque. According to The Data Heard , examining CCD data, 66% of all licensed and operating retailers in ABQ report less than $50k in monthly sales to the CCD. This indicates and reflects an abundance of mom-and-pop and multi-storefront operators that may be entering (or have already entered) a cash-stressed environment. The Data Heard conducts data analysis solely based on objective CCD data sets and creates predictive analysis that brands and retailers can leverage to understand the movements and position of the AU NM market. These retailers may cut back on SKU quantities (to eliminate carrying, acquisition, and training expenses), stock less inventory, reduce wholesale purchase frequency..., and flatten or reduce costs, including labor. These dispensaries welcome an alternative method to drive sales, create customer interaction, and build loyalty.

Concerning commitment, Prisco told me that "over 90% of all our delivery customers use us repeatedly".

Delivery baskets are bigger.

Prisco says the average basket size of Priscotty customers is between $100 and $115. This starkly contrasts with in-store sales that now see an average basket of $42.61 (down from $44.23 as recently as April). And Albuquerque is much lower. ABQ, home to 193 storefronts that report sales revenue, has the state's 6th lowest at $38.09 (as recently as April, ABQ AOV was $40.33). Santa Fe was slightly higher at $41.99. Forty-one dispensaries are open and operating in Santa Fe.

Prisco additionally shared that his team sees orders that include more premium-priced products. Sometimes, it's several units of $40 gummies, with a "plus one" of a few pre-rolls tossed in.

The consumer demand is in place for Priscotty to continue its aggressive growth. Cannabis will soon be delivered in Las Cruces by Priscotty and in newly opened cannabis markets in New York and New Jersey. Visit https://priscotty.com/ for further information.
