Being laser-focused, getting stuff done and seeing the rewards doesn't have to be a grind.
There are approaches that can help us which, whilst simple to apply, are also highly effective.
In this newsletter, I'll explore with you some great techniques from the world of Neuro Linguistic Programming.
I love it when I get the results in life or work I have been dreaming about. When an idea pops into my head and I later see it come to life there is no feeling like it.
Of course, it's not as simple as having an idea, and results magically appearing.
There is a process to making things happen, turning our imagination into action into results.
Again NLP (which loves talking about process) has a great approach to making things happen, and that's effective goal setting, which I delve into in more detail below.

Setting goals and getting results
Here's another really effective NLP approach, this time focusing on how you can get what you want to achieve, and it's all based on goals, on how we set, maintain and achieve them.
Perhaps you have a dream in mind, but find that all too often, somehow, your dreams seem to just slip away from you?
Dreams require imagination, results require action, and that's where goals come in.
How do you set your goals?
Here are my top tips for crafting your goals so you can maximise your chances of achieving them.
1. Set yourself up to succeed
Break down your goals into manageable chunks, or smaller more manageable goals. Build towards your success through gradual steps rather than trying to achieve everything at once.
You can certainly have a big dream in mind and working in smaller, more achievable steps will help you make it happen.
2. State your goal in the positive
If we talk about what we don’t want then that’s what we are focusing on, if we focus on what we do want then that is the result we’ll achieve. Our effort goes where we are focussing and what we are focussing on.
This is a practical way of looking at 'manifesting', something that many people talk about.
3. Be clear about where you are starting from.
Measuring your goal is a really important part of the overall process. If you don’t know where you started from then how do you know how far you have to go to get to your destination?
4. Be clear about what your outcome is
Rehearsing what it will feel like (and look like, sound like, etc) is a really effective way of placing a tangible end goal in your mind.
5. What resources do you need?
Who can help you? What do you need to gather first? (Skills / knowledge). Reach out to people and gather the resources you need before you get started. Preparation is key.

6. Give yourself a timeframe to succeed
Tell yourself when you're going to achieve your goal. If you don't specify a time your goal will more than likely just remain a dream, all aspiration and no action...
7. Know when you have succeeded
It may seem obvious, but have a think about your goal.
Let's take the example - "My goal is to have more money".
There's no end-point to this goal, there's always more money to be had, and there is no way of telling when the effort ends and the result appears.
Define your goal with a specific end in mind and celebrate when you achieve it!
Being clear with your goals will go a long way to achieving them.
Remember, ambiguous goals bring ambiguous results.
